Preparations we did before the change to Motec and Tierp Night of Fire Print E-mail
Written by Stian Abell Larsen

Since the engine needs about 40% more fuel with E-85, we had to make a new and bigger fuelcell. The previous Jaz tank was 4.5L, the new one is 11L.A bigger tank also forced us to change to a smaller battery.

A new Odyssey battery and batterybox ready. We also made another box in case we needed an exstra battery to get enough power during cranking.

It's a tight fit, we use #12 on the tank outlet to the pump.

Fuelcell and battery boxes ready for powder coat.

Ready to go!

Return lines from regulator and bypass valve on fuelpump, size is #8.

Speedsensor.

My father came by to check out the progress. He took a ride in his lovely original 67 fastback with only 51000km on the clock.

Barbro came with waffles and coffee, was really nice after a long day in the garage.

New cables getting in place. We also changed the input shaft in the Mendeola transmission.

Espen also came by later in the evening with something to drink and a quick snack-thanks buddy!

Next is the Tierp report-Night of Fire Cool

The SCC event-part1 Print E-mail

Here we go again! This time at the great event SCC.Looks cosy does'nt it? Torleif ready to help out as usual.

Richie and Jo was also there to test their awsome cab, look forward to see what that car can do when they get it dailed in.

Our good friends from Belgium, Christoph and Sven with their lovely and fast cars.

Espen and our previous racecar also there. But they got problems with the engine right away, plan was to do the first runs with the car.

The engine-a big T4 NA, was bought used a short period before SCC.But what looked good on paper, was a big disappointment. When he cranked it the first time, fuel came out between the head and cylinder. Then a valve got stuck. But we're sure about one thing, the old splitwindow is back on the track next season.

A lot of people came by to say hello. SCC is a really nice place to meet fellow VW fans from all over the world.

This year Barbro drove my father/brother/mothers 1600TL instead of her notchback. This original 67 fastback has only done 51400 kilometres. We put some wheeliebars on it-looks cool does'nt it?Winkhaha

Ready to rock!! With reaction times under 0,1 sec Barbro is one of the fastest in her class. This year she did 20,4 and 104 km/h, new PB.

Cars getting ready to have some fun!

The CSP team with Ron behind the wheel.

I'm ready!

Lets put on a show and get some heat in those tyresCool

A lot more pictures and report from SCC i part 2 soon!

Always a happy crew chief!

The Skinne beetle launching hard.Had a struggle getting the power down to the ground and keeping the car straight down the track.

After a day of racing, we do the normal maintenance. We got a strange problem we needed to check out.Startup, burnout and first two gears mostly fine in a run, when I hit third the EFI/Ignition turns off and then back on after 0.3 seconds. We look at both datalogs, in 2 thousands of a second the boost can jump like 16 psi,at the same time the rpm can drop or jump like 2000rpm on the AEM datalog.Really strange stuff. On the Racepak log it says that the rpm disappear and it does, but not on the AEM log.Seems like some kind of interfering, but difficult to figure out what or where.Another thing is that the Racepak gets its rpm signal from the MSD DIS4.

Here on the Racepak log you can see the rpm drop two times.Exactly the same shape on the graph each time.

Our tool table works great.

Anita and Barbro made waffles during the day,mmmmmmm..........

During the evening we had a great time with friends. This funny guy also gave us a good show.

Track master Geir could finally relax after a long day keeping the track and pit area in top condition..

I think he likes Jägermeister...Wink

Pinstriping..he did some nice work during the weekend.

The winner in supercharged/slicks class, Johan with his supercool RLR notchback.Did an awsome 9.05 run.

Finally we got to meet Christoph's wife Kathleen, and their oldest son Niels.Picked them up at the airport on Friday, they had to return back home to Belgium on sunday evening.

Me and Niels too a ride around the raceway on the atv, he is a cool guy.

Back home after a nice weekend at SCC.Our race results was'nt any good, need to find out what causes the problems we got on the track. Our good friends from Belgium joined us home to stay the night.

A hot shower and good food was a nice way to end the weekend.

On Monday morning we took a walk around the neighbourhood, it was really nice in the sun.

Christoph's car.

Sven's car.

Also got time to dry the tents in the morning.

Around noon sadly the guys had to leave to catch their ferry in Larvik, around 3 hour drive from our place.Really look forward to meet them again next year, it has almost become an tradidion now.

Next up is the racereport from Bug Run Classic,I promise it's going to be posted soon!
